Early feeding strategy to prevent PICS in critically ill patients: early intervention with nutrition and physiotherapy has been suggested as a measure to prevent PICS in critically ill patients. Enteral nutrition should be initiated early to test for feeding tolerance and progress to meet the energy needs measured by indirect calorimetry after initial stabilization . Protein targets should also be determined for individual patients. Physiotherapy can start as early passive mobilization or electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) and gradually progress to individualized rehabilitation. Such intervention should be planned according to the course of the critical illness and the phase of treatment
